The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is developing next-generation microfabricated magnetic devices and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) contrast agents and sensors based on microengineered magnetic micro and nanostructures. Opportunities exist to join the team in developing new magnetic sensors and sensing principles, new MRI contrast agents, NMR sensing devices, MR imaging/sensing mechanisms, micro- and nanofabrication techniques, as well as, more generally, new applications of magnetics-based nanotechnology to biomedicine. Depending on chosen research direction, there may be opportunities to interface with researchers at both NIST and at the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
