Description

<>The project focuses on the design and synthesis of Extended Solids tailored for specific applications relevant to the mission of the US Navy. Extended solids, in a general sense, are materials comprising interconnected elementary motifs. Examples of Extended Solids range from elemental materials such as diamond or graphite, to more complex systems at the other end of the spectrum such as zeolites or metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). We are interested in exploring new approaches to Extended Solid synthesis specifically targeting carbon, nitrogen, and/or boron rich systems arising from novel transformations with “building block” species, producing novel and highly useful materials with superlative properties.
