Description

We are seeking a candidate to focus on bioprocess optimization within the Chemical and Biological Center’s 20,000 square foot pilot-scale fermentation facility. The Department of Defense is rapidly expanding programs focused on metabolically engineering yeast and bacteria to produce novel chemicals, with a key goal of preparing these biomanufacturing processes for pilot-scale production and beyond. This role will center on optimizing fermentation processes to maximize yield, efficiency, and decreasing costs. These efforts will leverage analytical tools, including metabolic modeling, design of experiments, and machine learning to drive improvements. The successful candidate will work closely with a multi-disciplinary team of material scientists, chemists, and biologists, and will contribute to characterization efforts across Aberdeen Proving Ground Campus. This endeavor fosters regular collaboration with academic and industry partners within a nationwide manufacturing consortium. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential. Specific training will be provided, alongside opportunities for professional growth and development.
