In an operational environment that is increasingly volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous there is a need to ensure that the Air and Space forces can make efficient and effective use of resources and technology to achieve and maintain decision superiority in air, space, and cyberspace. To do this, we must leverage our understanding of human learning and cognition to ensure that warfighters have the knowledge and skills they need to be effective and the agility to adapt to changing operational circumstances. This research opportunity is focused on foundational research and technology to ensure that future operators are prepared for the changing face of military operations. We are interested in a broad range of specific topics that target technologies and capabilities that demonstrate how our understanding of human learning and cognition interacts with technology, data, and instructional design to ensure that our Airmen and Guardians have the knowledge, skills, agility and innovative capacity to achieve and sustain decision superiority in the context of changing operational demands, information environments, and adversary capabilities and tactics. This research opportunity is focused on advancing the science and technology of human multisensory perception, learning, information processing, and action in pursuit of goals related to this overall vision:
•Establish a persistent, global experimentation, test, and training ecosystem that supports personalized, proficiency-based readiness for Airmen and Guardians in joint all-domain operations
•Use digital modeling to advance considerations of human perception, cognition, and action in system development and operational planning
•Inform strategy and create capabilities for influence operations through experimentation, models, and analytics
•Enable real-time learning and adaptation in teams of humans and machines in training and operational settings
