Description

Our research team in the Chemistry Research Center at the US Air Force Academy focuses on preparing functionalized polymer and hybrid polymers and composites directed towards developing next-generation, high-performance materials to meet operational AF and mission partner needs. Ongoing projects include, but are not limited to processable, partially fluorinated poly(aryl ether)s and poly(arylene)s, fluorosiloxane hybrid composites, heat transfer fluids, and flexile organic electronics. Projects encompass organic/polymer synthesis, processing, and characterization. Our continued multi-invested collaborations include industry partners, Department of Energy, and many technical directorates within AF Reserach Laboratory. Research facilities include a host of modern advanced materials processing and analysis in addition to an advanced suite of small molecule synthesis and characterization capabilities. Candidates with strong organic methodology and/or  polymer chemistry backgrounds are highly encouraged to apply by first contacting the Laboratory Advisor, Dr. Scott Iacono, along with a currnet CV.
