Description

Looking to be added as an associate to the following topic:

"(1) Hyperspectral Imaging. This area includes both imaging spectrometer

instrumentation for remote sensing and signal processing algorithms for

material detection, tracking, identification, and characterization. Novel

imaging spectrometer designs that achieve excellent spectral resolution,

field-of-view, and radiometric sensitivity in the visible through longwave

infrared spectral region are being pursued. We are particularly interested

in miniature devices for employment from small airborne platforms and

designs that support simultaneous spectral imaging in a staring format.

Signal processing advances are investigated for low contrast target

detection in diverse clutter backgrounds, change detection over large

environmental variations, and featured-aided target tracking.

(2) Polarimetric Imaging. This area includes investigations of techniques

for on-chip multispectral and polarimetric filtering at visible through

longwave infrared wavelengths, including methods using nanostructured

filters and quantum detector structures. Material phenomenology and signal

processing methods associated with enhanced object discrimination and shape

estimation from polarimetric imagery are also being explored.

(3) Multimodal Infrared Sensing. This area focuses on the design and

implementation of new hardware and signal processing methods for

simultaneously capturing spectral, temporal, spatial (two- and

three-dimensional), polarimetric, and radiometric information of remotely

sensed objects using emitted and reflected passive infrared radiation. A

specific application of interest is feature-aided tracking of vehicles and

personnel in urban areas."
