Chemistry, Radiation and Dynamics of the Upper Troposphere/Lower Stratosphere

This research opportunity involves analysis of data from high altitude aircraft campaigns, from satellite, from balloon borne platforms, and data assimilation products as well as global climate modeling. The objective is to conduct theoretical and observational studies to better understand processes controlling transport and mixing in and between the upper troposphere and lower stratosphere, and how those processes may change in an increased greenhouse gas climate, or due to geoengineering. We are particularly interested in studying how changes in chemical, dynamical and radiative processes in the UTLS impact the water vapor, ozone, and aerosol distributions in the stratosphere and feedback onto tropospheric climate. Modeling (including mechanistic, regional and global scale models) to understand the processes that alter middle atmosphere species distributions is part of this opportunity.
Experience Supplement: Postdoctoral and Senior Associates will receive an appropriately higher stipend based on the number of years of experience past their PhD.
