Description

Postdoctoral research opportunities are available for developing tissues-on-chips and multi-organ microphysiological systems (MPS) that realize reliable and accurate drug testing of new drug candidates. Our laboratory has developed microphysiological systems that operate with small amounts of recirculating cell culture medium (Lab on a Chip 16(14): 2719-2729, 2016, and Microphysiol Syst. 2020 Jun; 4: 10.21037/mps-19-8) that will make toxic metabolite detection more sensitive. Recent work includes a new, pumpless liver/heart system. NRC postdocs can propose to work on optimizing MPS designs (potentially with integrated, microfabricated sensors), developing new tissues-on-chips, developing MPS for new organ combinations, and testing drug candidates in collaboration with NIH with any of the developed devices.
