Description

While Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) are key techniques used in the biological and medical fields, there is a growing use of these technologies in industrial settings. These include uses in quality control, real-time monitoring, and challenging environments. This research will focus on advancing magnetic resonance techniques to provide quantitative measurements in such cases and utilize equipment such as high- and low- field NMR/MRI systems and non-traditional systems such as single-sided magnets. In addition to this equipment, techniques such as finite-element modeling and spin dynamic simulations are available to develop approaches compatible with industrial environments. Applications in topic areas can be broad reaching with examples (but not limited to): energy generation systems, fuel cells, batteries, agriculture, additive manufacturing, carbon sequestration, and porous media.
