Spectroscopic and Microscopic Determination of DNA Wrapping Structures on Carbon Nanotubes
Material Measurement Laboratory, Materials Science and Engineering Division
NIST only participates in the February and August reviews.
Single-stranded DNA has been found to be a very useful molecular tool to manipulate single walled carbon nanotubes (SWNT). The DNA-SWNT hybrid structures have been used for solving the SWNT sorting problem. A fundamental question is how the DNA wrapping structures are dependent on the sequence of ssDNA and SWNT structures. This project focuses on answering the question through measurements with various kinds of spectroscopic (such as circular dichroism) and microscopic (such as scanning probe microscopy) tools.
