We study properties of single photon sources, faint sources of light and photon-counting detectors for a broad range of applications.

We are particularly interested in developing and characterizing hybrid quantum systems (interfaces between dissimilar physical media), suitable for quantum information purposes, and exotic sources of faint light. Research focuses on advancing non-classical sources of light including single-photon on-demand sources, m-photon sources, sources of entanglement, single-photon switches, and hybrid quantum systems gating, as well as on improving metrology of these devices. Of particular interest are faint biological sources of light (e.g., bio-fluorescence and bio-luminescence aimed at precision detection of biomarkers in vitro). We also pursue single-photon detector characterization and metrology, and encourage proposals in any of these areas.
