NIST only participates in the February and August reviews.
The Fundamental Electrical Measurements (FEM) group has opportunities for engineers and physicists interested in precision measurements based on fundamental constants in the development of quantum electrical standards. The FEM group uses physical laws, quantum invariants, and ultra-precision measurement techniques to create and refine a core set of experiments used as the US national standards of the ohm, farad, and in the near future, the kilogram. Each of these complex experiments have opportunities for precision measurement research that can improve the accessibility, reliability, precision, accuracy, and range of values that can be achieved and disseminated within the respective area of each standard. Proposals to advance the state-of-the-art of the optical, mechanical, and electrical systems used in these experiments are welcome, and research projects can be formulated across a tremendous breadth of precision measurement activities.
