Description

Remote sensing of environmental phenomena (e.g., atmospheric, ocean, or terrestrial) is conducted to increase our understanding of the processes that shape our world. Research areas include sensor systems (including active and polarimetric systems), image processing, atmospheric compensation, automated classification algorithms, target recognition algorithms, and environmental analysis. The emphasis is on the atmosphere, ocean/atmosphere boundary, coastal processes, and the open ocean, although any remote sensing work that is applied to the Earth is acceptable

The laboratory has a wide variety of sensor systems (hyperspectral, thermal imagers, polarimetric systems, multispectral systems,) calibration facilities, and computer resources available for this work.
