Description

Research on nonlinear systems has been in progress in the field of coupled systems of arrays (e.g., nonlinear optics and Josephson junction arrays) and in continuous systems (e.g., reaction-diffusion systems and coupled continuum mechanical models). Model independent methods based on time delay embedding, as well as Karhunen-Loeve methods are used to elucidate the bifurcation of coherent structures for bifurcation analysis and nonlinear control. Application areas consist of fluid mechanics, continuum mechanics, biology, and nonlinear optics. We are also developing new efforts to design mathematical and computational tools to handle stochastic dynamical systems.
