Description

The Upper Atmosphere Physics Branch of the NRL Space Science Division has research opportunities in the general field of experimental atmospheric science. We are particularly interested in applications for the innovative interferormetric technique Spatial Heterodyne Spectroscopy (SHS). The Branch is currently focusing on using SHS for measuring atmospheric winds from space. Laboratory and/or field experience in optical spectroscopy, including SHS, FTS, FPI, or grating spectroscopy-especially in the visible-would be a significant advantage. The Branch also conducts a research program in remote sensing and modeling of planetary and upper atmospheres; opportunities for collaborative work in these areas would be available.
