Description
The Naval Research Laboratory invites proposals to conduct basic research on topics of ocean optics and ocean color remote sensing. We seek applicants interested in understanding how light interacts with matter suspended and dissolved within ocean, coastal, estuarine, and riverine waters and how such knowledge can be applied to the interpretation of remotely sensed optical signals, such as hyperspectral and LIDAR, and Earth system models. We encourage ideas that can potentially enhance our knowledge of land-ocean interactions, coastal ocean ecology, and/or climate change. Research ideas may focus on environmental modeling, image analysis, and/or in situ observations.
