Description
The Sediment Dynamics Section of NRL's Ocean Sciences Division performs basic and applied research leading to advanced technology development, demonstration, and validation efforts focusing on the physical, mechanical, and acoustical properties of seafloor, estuarine, and riverine sediments. Research includes the utilization of a combination of numerical modeling, detailed laboratory measurements, and field experiments. The research project will focus on using deterministic and probabilistic models to simulate nearshore hydro- and morphodynamics, collecting in situ and/or remotely sensed observations, and/or the integration of models and observations to improve model forecasting. Extensive resources such as high-performance computers and state-of-the-art laboratory and field equipment will be available for the project. Experience in Delft3D and Matlab/Python is highly desired.
