Description

The Applied Materials and Systems Section at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory performs basic and applied research on novel materials, devices, and sensors. The Section is seeking a postdoctoral candidate with expertise in experimental physics including: optical measurement, optoelectronic device characterization, high-speed electrical measurement, and device fabrication. There are a wide range of projects available related to plasmonic and thin-film devices, THz photonics, metamaterials, nanophotonics, and material physics with the goal of developing advanced methods to sense, control, generate, and modulate light. The role will require familiarity with pulsed and CW laser systems, Raman spectroscopy, near-field scanning optical microscopy as well as the ability to analyze and model device physics using numerical codes or first principal calculations.
