Description
We are investigating the continued development of new synthetic methods to produce reactive metal nanopowders (RMNPs) with varying composition and properties. We are interested in exploring the optimization of existing synthetic methods and the development of new approaches to making reactive mixed-metal nanopowders, as well as the chemistry involved with processing, derivatizing, and adding these powders to various useful formulations. We are interested in developing these new materials for various applications, such as battery media, hydrogen storage materials, combustion synthesis, catalysis, and others. It is desirable that the candidate has experience air free synthetic techniques, as well as familiarity with chemical and materials characterization, including techniques such as FT-IR, NMR, PXRD, XPS, SEM/EDS, and thermal analysis (TGA/DSC, etc.).
