Description

We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher with experience in mass spectroscopy.  Our Advanced Optics Concepts Section at the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) explores various optical techniques and spectroscopic methods (optical as well as mass/ion) towards characterization of aerosols and sensor development.  We have a high-resolution time of flight aerosol mass spectrometer from Aerodyne, that is implemented in an aerosol test facility at NRL.  This instrument is used to analyze the chemical composition of ambient and man-made aerosols.

Ideal candidate would have experience with mass spectrometer, calibration of instrument and analysis of data from Aerodyne’s AMS or a high interest in the opportunity of learning the process.  Experience collecting measurements from new types of chemicals and making fragmentation tables is a plus. The candidate will be expected to be able to independently conduct research in these areas, present their results and prepare manuscripts for journal publication.
