Description

Research proposals are invited that investigate novel and advanced analysis and interpretation of ocean remotely sensed imagery from multiple sensors, applying techniques such as statistical methods, computer vision, machine learning, and data fusion for the purpose of quantifying coastal and ocean phenomena such as, but not limited to, internal waves, wind waves, turbulence, surface currents, and river plumes.

The Naval Research Laboratory provides access to a number of commercial and custom-built sensing and imaging systems (SAR, hyperspectral, multispectral, thermal, and polarmetric systems) from satellite, airborne and drone platforms. Also available are opportunities for in-situ ocean field measurements, laboratory experiments, calibration facilities, and computer resources to perform the work.
