Description
Colloidal nanocrystals are a promising materials class for a wide variety of applications, including photodetectors, light emitting diodes, and biological imaging. This project focuses on the development of novel infrared photodetectors based on chemically synthesized colloidal nanostructures [1]. We are interested in tailoring the synthesis of these nanomaterials to enhance properties such as photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) and colloidal/ambient stability. Furthermore, we develop surface passivation strategies for these materials, which play a critical role in device performance. We fabricate thin-film devices using a variety of deposition techniques including solution processing (i.e., spin or blade-coating), sputter-coating, atomic layer deposition, and thermal evaporation, in addition to subsequent characterization of their electronic and optical performance.
