Description
We are seeking a motivated candidate to join a successful, multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers interested in the development of biomanufacturing platforms to generate industrially relevant products from non-traditional feedstocks. Specifically, the candidate will be responsible for design, setup, and operation of bioreactors to convert waste streams (e.g. food waste) into into products (e.g. bioplastics). The candidate will also be responsible for assessing system performance by analyzing products via methods such as HPLC and GC and calculating yields, rates, and fluxes. Applicants should hold a PhD in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline. Candidates with experimental and/or modeling expertise are encouraged to apply. The candidate should be self-motivated, well-organized, and have excellent written and oral communication skills. Qualified candidates should contact Matthew D. Yates at matthew.yates@nrl.navy.mil. The Naval Research Laboratory is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
