Development of Novel Solid-State and Hybrid Ionic Conductors and Electrolytes
Naval Research Laboratory, DC, Chemistry
We are interested in the development of new, non-flammable, and highly active ionic conductors for use in rechargeable batteries and fuel cells. Devices that are currently commerically available are limited by the physical properties of state-of-the-art materials used. The operational range and flammability of lithium-ion batteries leave much room for improvement. We are soliciting proposals for the design, synthesis, and testing of new types of ionic conductors that have high performance without the drawbacks of currently available materials.
