Description
Materials Science & Technology Division at the US Naval Research Laboratory (www.nrl.navy.mil) in Washington, DC, has Postdoctoral opportunities in the general area of multifunctional materials and devices. We have a growing and well-funded research group and are looking for highly motivated associates with creative ideas. The focus of this group is on functional materials, including but not limited to, magnetic, piezoelectric, ferroelectric, multiferroic, electronic, structural and thermal materials. Potential applications include devices for energy conversion with high efficiency; thermal management; energy harvesting; transduction; or sensing. In particular, experience with magnetic, piezoelectric or multiferroic materials is desirable. Synthesis of materials, clean room and microfabrication experience is preferred. Experience with 2D systems or metamaterials to achieve additional multi-functionality and unique capabilities would also be of interest.
Candidates should have a Ph.D. in materials science/engineering or physics with relevant experience in materials and/or device design, synthesis and fabrication. Good writing and good communications skills are essential.
Information about the NRC and ASEE postdoctoral associate programs at NRL can be found at http://hroffice.nrl.navy.mil/jobs/postdoc.htm. NRL is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Please note that US Citizenship or US Permanent Residence status is required for Postdoctoral positions at NRL.
