Description
The Conservation Biology Division at the Northwest Fisheries Science Center seeks a postdoctoral fellow in genetic mixture analysis and genomics of Chinook salmon. The goal for the fellowship is to combine a rich tradition of genetic mixture analysis with current next-generation sequencing projects in the laboratory. Extensive historical and contemporary tissue samples are available, suitable for a wide variety of ecological and climate studies. The research will involve building genomic DNA libraries, bioinformatics processing of sequencing data, and analyses to evaluate stock-specific migration patterns and associations with oceanographic conditions. A theoretical population genetics background with extensive computational/bioinformatic experience is essential, along with experience in computing languages and programs that facilitate population genomics, mixture studies, and seascape genomics.
