Description
This research targets the synthesis of compounds which have the potential to be made into energetic materials with high density and oxygen balance. Conceivably these could be polyaza cages containing secondary amines capped with a protecting group or a new high nitrogen heterocycle. The applicant does not need to have experience with energetic material synthesis but this experience would be helpful. Development of new ways to make nitramines or other explosophores would also be of interest. This department maintains a varietry of analytical equipment to support this area of research including a 250Mhz NMR and a 300Mhz NMR, a high resolution mass spectrometer, LC/MS, FTIR as well as a single crystal X-ray facility.
