Description

Neutron elastic and inelastic scattering methods are used to elucidate the crystal structure, magnetic structure, lattice dynamics, and spin dynamics of materials that simultaneously exhibit magnetic order and ferroelectricity. We are particularly interested in the coupling between these two disparate order parameters. The effects of an applied electric field on the magnetic order, and an applied magnetic field on the ferroelectric order, are not only of fundamental interest but are of particular interest in spintronics applications.
