Description
Research opportunities are available to advance the measurement of infrared radiation for applications to remote sensing, fundamental metrology, process monitoring, homeland security, defense, and biomedical areas. Specific interests include (1) the development of improved methods to measure infrared radiation from space to meet the increasingly stringent requirements for climate research and weather forecasting; (2) the realization of new infrared radiometry primary, transfer, and working standards and dissemination approaches with uncertainties lower than current uncertainties; (3) the development of improved standards and technology for infrared biomedical sensing; (4) the advancement of infrared scene generation for the calibration and characterization of infrared hyperspectral imagers; (5) the advancement of radiometry science and applications in a cryogenic space-like environment; and (6)the development of continuous and pulsed infrared laser methods for the calibration and characterization of infrared sensors.
