Description

Our research focuses on developing and fielding robotic autonomous systems for the maritime environment. The research activities encompass dynamics, navigation, control and estimation as applied to ocean platforms, both below and at the water surface. Our current work is on simulated environments to support the development of multi-domain robotic applications. We are collaborating on a number of open-source software projects with the goal to provide high-quality simulated environments of suitable fidelity to enable rapid prototyping and testing of next generation maritime robotic solutions. We are seeking candidates with strong backgrounds in both the fundamental aspects of ocean platform and environmental characteristics (e.g., naval architecture, seakeeping, hydrodynamics, underwater optics, etc.) and software development to enable candidates to make substantial contributions to this rapidly evolving new capability.
