Opportunities are available for basic and applied research utilizing current methodologies in virology, immunology, and molecular biology with a focus on preventing disease by encephalitic viruses for the protection or treatment of the Warfighter. Research focuses on the development and characterization of animal models for viral agents. Emphasis is placed on determining virus dissemination and pathology following infection, as well as identifying potential targets for future medical countermeasures.
